When is the best time to book a massage on vacation?

You’ve made it to Kos Island. A sunny, hot Greek island paradise for your summer vacation. You’ve arrived at your hotel or apartment and it’s time to think about what to do for your time here. You can read our blog on the best wellness activities in Kos for some inspiration.

You may have planned and booked your activities ahead of time, or perhaps you booked a last minute escape and are leaving the planning aside and going with the flow for the time you’re here.

Life can become hectic; being overworked, stressed, going through difficult times and finding it hard to switch off from lifes daily demands at home, so now is your time to disconnect, prioritise your wellbeing and enjoy the freedom to just be.

Massage and facials are already well known for the benefits physiologically, but on vacation, those benefits can be tenfold.

It happens automatically, when you don’t have to worry about household chores, going to work, caring for a family member, and other daily responsibilities; it’s as if you are releasing space inside yourself to let in all the massage benefits to your body.

Why not try to set your intention for your vacation; what do you really want to get out of your time here? This could be a mantra to remember daily rather than something to physically accomplish like:

I will reconnect, I will be grounded and present

I am worthy of peace and rest

I allow myself time to relax

I am at home in my mind and body

I release all stress, pain and tension

My body is my sanctuary

When is the best time to book a massage?

Booking your session for the day after you arrive gives you time to adjust and settle into your surroundings and orientate yourself. It allows you to fully unwind after a long day travelling. Improving sleep and mood straight away. You can choose a morning slot if you don’t have any activities to follow for the rest of the day and just want to relax around the pool or beach, or choose an evening slot if youre intending to roll straight into bed after a long, action- filled day exploring.

Insider tip: Why not book another massage before leaving to make the most of the rest of your time here and leave on a high.

So how long should my session be?

Without the time constraints of being back at home, why not try a longer duration like 60, 90 or 120 minutes. The more minutes you choose, the greater the benefits and value for you, being able to pay more attention to tension areas.
